Are you ready for walking challenge in 2018? As a team we always close off every year looking ahead at what challenges are in store for the new year. And 2018 is no different. Surfing around the world wide interwebs we spotted a brilliant challenge – it’s really simple and everyone can do it – walk 1000 miles in 2018.
A thousand miles?
It sounds a lot, but it’s not really. It’s a whisker under 3 miles or 5,500 steps a day. You could do it in your lunch hour, on your way into the office, with a friend, on your own, with the dog, with the family, in the evening on the way home, you can do it anytime.
Or you could nail your weekly miles target by exploring some of the great british outdoors on one of our brilliant walking holidays?!
If you need some inspiration to get you motivate to get outside then why not tackle this challenge this whilst raising funds for an organisation such as the NHS, or as part of your preparation for a charity event such as walk the walk, or for your own nominated charity?
You can pick up a copy of Country Walking magazine in shops now (it’s the February edition) which comes with a free 64-page #walk1000miles launch magazine packed with lots of walking hints and tips, a fantastic double-sided Progress Tracker chart for those that like tangible stuff, and a fun postcard too.
It’s simple to keep track of your miles with the latest map app from our friends at OS too. The web-app has a new ‘My Activities’ feature to keep track of your outdoor adventures with a mileage tracker.
We all know that walking is a great way to balance your mind, your health and your fitness. And also to explore the great outdoors. Don’t just take our word for it – see what OS #GetOutside Champion Belinda Dixon has to say – and get involved today!!
